IMAGINARY STAGES

Curatorial Practice · Contemporary Circus · Interactive Installation
International Cultural Centre Caisa · Helsinki, Finland · 2020

Imaginary Stages is an interactive exhibition based on the performance works of Luis Sartori do Vale. Through original props, set elements and installations, audiences are invited to enter the artist’s visual universe and experience elements of the performances beyond the stage.

Conceived and curated by Pablo Alvarez, the exhibition explores the recurring narratives, artistic processes and visual language of Sartori do Vale’s work, while creating a bridge between contemporary circus and visual arts. Designed as a touring exhibition, the project also aimed to make contemporary circus more accessible to new audiences.
